Donald Trump looking to jump on the online gambling bandwagon may signal that the deal to finally legalize online betting is coming soon.

Donald Trump, longtime Atlantic City casino owner, wants a piece of the online gambling action and is looking to form an Internet gaming business.

After many successful casino ventures in the 1980s Trump has struggled over the years to keep his empire together with Trump Entertainment Resorts having filed for bankruptcy protection three times.

In comments made to Forbes Trump said, “This has to happen because many other countries are doing it and like usual the U.S. Trump moved his business interests to the Atlantic City boardwalk in the early 1980s and received a gaming license from New Jersey’s Casino Control Commission in 1982.

After months of talking, the US House is ready to take some action on the topic of legalizing online poker. Trumps comments came after Trump Entertainment Resorts disclosed in a securities filing it will form a joint venture for Internet gambling.

Donald Trump started his business career in New York City with his father Fred Trump a New York City real estate developer. The House Energy and Commerce Manufacturing subpanel will hold a hearing next Tuesday on Internet gambling.
